Introducing Enovate

Posted on

Enovate Healthcare and Enovate Design are sister companies based at Anglia Ruskin’s Business Innovation Centre – The MedBIC. Founded by Michael Walsh (ARU Alumnus) Enovate design and build websites and applications, and are specialists in Craft CMS.

In 2008, Enovate were commissioned to design and develop an online wheelchair stock system. The success of this system led to the formation of Enovate Healthcare. Since its development, the stock system has been implemented in various NHS Trusts and now handles over 42,000 wheelchairs and 3,000 accessories.

Enovate moved into The MedBIC in June 2017 with plans to double the size of the web design and development team from four full-time staff to eight.

michael-walsh“The move to The MedBIC has been brilliant for us; the offices are fantastic and provide an excellent location to meet with potential and existing clients and a great working environment for staff.  The support from the team at The MedBIC has been amazing and through the networking events we were put in touch with the KEEP+ team, who assisted us with a consultancy grant allowing us to expand with a new service.”

Enovate work with a variety of clients in Essex and beyond in both public and private sectors. Over the last eighteen months, Enovate have shifted towards larger scale, detailed work. They are part way through two large web application projects and increasingly expanding their skill set as clients demand with more complex challenges.

2018 was a busy year for Enovate:

  • In March, Enovate were one of only seven agencies worldwide to feature in Google’s Directory of Agencies building Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).
  • In August, they became members of the Craft CMS partner network (Craft CMS is a content management system used to build the majority of Enovate’s website projects).
  • They were also shortlisted for two categories for the 2018 Essex Digital Awards.

“We’re really excited about PWAs and the potential they hold for web design and development, where a web application can feel more like a native app on your phone or desktop.”

Looking to the future, Enovate are focussing on their strengths and skills in Craft CMS-based websites, e-commerce stores and web applications built upon the Laravel PHP Framework.  Despite a rapid surge in growth, the company still has plans to expand and are currently looking for a Junior PHP Developer.

The team at Enovate are involved in two MeetUp groups. Essex Web Developers meet regularly in Chelmsford https://www.meetup.com/EssexWebDevelopers/ and the Craft CMS Group meet in London https://www.meetup.com/craftcmsLDN/.
